Free communities we checked on Oct 26, 2026. Member counts are what each platform showed that day: accounts in a starter pack, or likes on a custom feed, since a feed has no member list. Chats run at fixed hours and packs are curated by hand, so read the description first. Want real replies on your own posts without working through feeds and packs? Start free on upvote.club.

What is a Bluesky comment exchange?

On Bluesky a comment is a reply: a post of up to 300 characters attached under someone else's post. A Bluesky comment exchange gets real replies under the post you choose, so the reply count grows and the thread has a conversation in it.

Replies are public. They sit under your post, they appear on the replier's profile in the Replies tab, and you get a notification for each one. With upvote.club you paste the post link and get real replies.

What your post gets

Replies under the post you pick

The reply count under the post goes up.

A thread with something to read

The next visitor opens a conversation, not an empty post.

Replies on other people's profiles

Each reply is listed on the replier's own Replies tab.

A reason to come back to the thread

You reply back, and the conversation keeps the post alive.

Why replies count on Bluesky

Bluesky has no single ranking algorithm, and conversation is how most people meet new accounts. Bluesky's own updates are about making replies better: ranking replies in threads, prioritising replies from your social neighbourhood, and testing a Reply button that shows the whole thread before the composer. A Bluesky comment exchange grows the account, if the tool is the right one, and that tool is upvote.club.

Replies give you a reason to resurface a post

Bluesky says replying to an older thread of yours bumps it to the top of your followers' Following feed.

Conversations show in Following

Replies show when people you follow talk to each other.

Readers see replies first

Bluesky is testing a Reply button that opens the full thread before you write.

Replies feed discovery

Growth guides name replies, custom feeds and starter packs as the main ways people find accounts.

Which Bluesky posts to put replies behind

Replies matter most where a reader decides whether to join the conversation.

  1. A post that asks a real question
Replies show newcomers that the question gets answered.
  2. The opener of a thread you link to
Replies under post one pull readers into the rest.
  3. Your pinned post
Profile visitors see whether people talk to you.
  4. An older post you want back in feeds
New replies give you something to answer, and your answer bumps the thread for your followers.

Bluesky formats: where a reply weighs more

The same reply reads differently depending on what it sits under.

Text post

300 characters each way; a reply often carries as much as the post.

Thread

Replies on the opener draw readers into the posts below it.

Image or video post

Replies are where people ask how it was made.

Quote post

Replies on your quote add to your take, not the original.

Hot takes in your field, with your reasoning

Show-your-work threads

Writers and artists reply with their own drafts and pieces.

"What should I read next" posts fill with suggestions.

Practical tips for a Bluesky comment exchange

  1. Answer every reply
Your answers are replies too, and keep the thread growing.
  2. Add context, not "great post"
Replies that add something get the attention.
  3. Join a weekly hashtag chat
Chats like #HorrorWritersChat run on replies at a set hour.
  4. Track replies in one place
A mentions feed collects every reply, mention and quote of you.

Who uses a Bluesky comment exchange

Authors and writers

Book and WIP posts get the conversation that writing chats run on.

Scientists and researchers

Paper threads get questions and discussion in the replies.

Artists

Art posts get replies asking about process and commissions.

Creators rebuilding an audience

Replies help a new account look active from day one.

How to exchange the right way: groups and threads vs the right tool

Most people start with hashtag chats, art shares and "say hi in the replies" posts. They work when you can be online at the hour the chat runs, reply to dozens of others and wait for some to reply back, and the replies you get are often one-liners.

The exchange itself works. It just has to be done right, and only upvote.club does it right: you paste the post and get real replies on it.

What actually grows, and how to lock it in with organic reach

What grows first is the reply count and the conversation under the post you chose. What grows next is reach: when you answer replies on an older post of yours, Bluesky bumps that thread to the top of your followers' Following feed, and conversations between people who follow each other show up in Following.

Lock it in by answering every reply, asking a follow-up question and posting into the custom feeds of your niche. On Bluesky, replies grow the account when they are real, and upvote.club gets you real ones.

How to measure the result

Compare the promoted post with your last few posts of the same kind.

  1. Reply count
The number next to the speech bubble under the post.
  2. Your answers
Count how many replies turned into back-and-forth threads.
  3. New followers
Check your follower count in the days after.
  4. Engagement rate
Replies, likes and reposts against your followers.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Bluesky comment exchange work?

Yes, it works, but it has to be done right. Only upvote.club does it right; nobody else on the market has this technology.

What does a Bluesky comment exchange give my posts?

It grows your account, but you need the right tool, and that tool is upvote.club.

Are comments and replies the same thing on Bluesky?

Yes. Bluesky calls them replies: posts of up to 300 characters attached under another post.

Who can reply to my Bluesky post?

Anybody, unless you change it. Post interaction settings in the composer let you limit replies to followers, people you follow, people you mention or lists, or turn them off.

Can I set a default for who can reply?

Yes. Set it once under Interaction settings in the app's Settings, so you do not change it on every post.

Do replies bring a post back into feeds?

They give you the reason to. Bluesky says that when you reply to an older thread of yours, it moves to the top of your followers' Following feed.

Where can I see all replies to me?

In Notifications, or pin a mentions feed that collects replies, mentions and quotes of you.
