Follow for follow on LinkedIn: growing followers, not connections
On LinkedIn a follower is not a connection: anyone can follow you, nobody has to accept a request, and followers keep counting after the 30,000 connections cap. Here is how follow for follow works for followers and how to get real ones.

LinkedIn follow-for-follow groups you can join
Free communities we checked on Oct 26, 2026. Member counts are what each platform showed that day. Groups built only around LinkedIn follow-for-follow are rare, because most LinkedIn trading happens as connection requests, so these are the closest real LinkedIn growth and engagement communities, where members also follow each other. Each one is run by its own admins, so read the pinned rules first. Want real followers without the group routine? Start free on upvote.club.

What does follow for follow mean on LinkedIn?
Follow for follow on LinkedIn means two members follow each other's posts without connecting. A follow is one-way: you see their posts in your feed, and they see yours only once they follow you back. A connection is two-way, needs the other person to accept, and makes both of you followers of each other automatically.
That is why LinkedIn F4F is a different thing from Connect4Connect. It grows the follower number on your profile, the audience for every post you publish, while your connections stay the people you actually know or work with.
The LinkedIn words behind follow for follow
Follow back
Returning a follow to a member who followed you first. No request, nothing to accept.
Make follow primary
The profile setting that swaps the blue Connect button for Follow.
Followers vs connections
Two separate numbers. Your connections follow you by default; most followers are not connections.
Creator mode
The old switch that used to turn on the Follow button. LinkedIn retired it in 2024 and kept the Follow setting.
A LinkedIn follower vs a connection
Followers are your audience; connections are your network. Follow for follow grows the first without touching the second.
| - | Follower | Connection |
|---|---|---|
| Needs approval | No, anyone can follow unless you restrict followers to connections | Yes, the other person accepts |
| Cap | No follower cap | 30,000 connections |
| Shows on your profile as | Follower count | Connection count, and it adds to followers too |
| Sees your posts | Yes | Yes |
| Direct messages | No, not by default | Yes |
Does the follower count matter on LinkedIn?
Yes, for two concrete reasons. Followers are part of the first audience LinkedIn shows a new post to: post analytics splits impressions into in-network, from people who follow you or are connected to you, and out-of-network, from everyone else. And LinkedIn ties a feature to the number: members with more than 150 followers and/or connections can be evaluated for LinkedIn Live.
Newsletters no longer wait for a follower count. LinkedIn says all members can create one, so your followers decide how many readers the first issue starts with.
Turn on the Follow button before you start
Without this setting most visitors see Connect first, and a follow-back turns into a pending connection request.
- Open Settings & Privacy
From the Me menu at the top of LinkedIn. - Go to Visibility, then Followers
This is where LinkedIn keeps everything about who can follow you. - Choose Everyone on LinkedIn
If you pick Your connections, followers outside your network are removed and the Follow button disappears from your posts. - Switch on Make follow primary
Visitors now see Follow as the main button on your profile.
Where LinkedIn follow for follow actually happens
"Follow me and I follow back" posts
Posts that invite everyone in the comments to follow each other, often under job-search and personal-branding topics.
Skool and Telegram communities
Posting-party threads where members drop a profile link and follow the people above them.
Comment sections of big creators
A useful comment brings profile visits, and some of those visitors hit Follow.
Does follow for follow work on LinkedIn? Yes, if you do it right
Yes, it works, but it has to be done right. Only upvote.club does it right; nobody else on the market has this technology.
On LinkedIn, done right means followers from your industry and job function, the people your follower demographics will show in analytics, so every new follower is someone your next post is written for.
That is the result upvote.club gives you on LinkedIn: real followers on the profile you choose.
What LinkedIn follow for follow gives you, and how to add what is missing
A bigger in-network audience
More of each post's impressions come from people who chose to see you.
No acceptance step
Followers grow without anyone approving a request, so the count moves faster than connections.
Room past 30,000
Connections stop at the cap; followers do not.
Add relevance
Followers from your field react and comment. Followers from elsewhere scroll past.
A LinkedIn follow-back worth the same on both sides
How many LinkedIn followers to expect
Manual follow for follow on LinkedIn moves slower than on X. There are no follow trains, and many members answer a follow with a connection request instead of a follow-back, which adds to your connections rather than your followers. The Follow button on your profile and a headline that says what you post about turn more of those visits into follows.
Followers to connections: your LinkedIn ratio
Your connections follow you by default, so the follower number usually sits above the connection number. The gap between the two is your audience beyond your network. Enter both numbers from your profile and watch the gap as it widens.
Who follows you back on LinkedIn
Click the follower number on your profile to see who follows you. To spot connections you lost along the way, use the LinkedIn lost connections checker.
When to follow back on LinkedIn
Peers who post in your field
Their posts make your feed worth opening.
Followers who comment
A follow-back tells them you read their replies.
People you would not connect with yet
Follow first, and connect when there is a reason to talk.
What grows LinkedIn followers beyond F4F
Document posts
PDF, PPT or DOC files up to 300 pages, swiped slide by slide; one idea per slide keeps readers going.
A newsletter
Every member can start one, and each issue gives readers a reason to follow for the next.
LinkedIn Live
Open for evaluation past 150 followers and/or connections; a live session gives viewers a reason to follow the host.
Comments under bigger creators
A sharp comment is how strangers find your profile.
What follow for follow gives your LinkedIn profile
Follow for follow on LinkedIn grows the account, as long as you use the right tool.
On LinkedIn F4F gives you followers on top of your connections: a larger first audience for each post, a follower count visitors read as reach, and an audience that keeps growing with no requests to approve.
The number to look past
Look past the headline follower total. On LinkedIn the useful view is follower demographics in your analytics, the job titles, industries and locations of the people who follow you, plus the out-of-network share of impressions on each post.
