LinkedIn image size checker

LinkedIn accepts a range of ratios for post images, 3:1 to 4:5. The checker calculates your ratio instead of matching you to one table.

Ratios are more durable than pixel counts: LinkedIn adjusts display specs with UI changes.

What the checker is doing

The checker reads the image in your browser and calculates its ratio. For post images the rule is arithmetic: inside 3:1 to 4:5 the image displays complete; outside it, LinkedIn centres and crops it and you lose whatever sat near the edges.

Being inside the range avoids cropping but does not guarantee sharpness: below 1080 pixels wide, images look soft on large screens.

A worked example

Two common cases. A full-screen desktop screenshot is usually 16:9 (1.78:1), which fits fine. A vertical iPhone photo is 3:4 (0.75), below the 0.8 minimum, so it is cropped top and bottom; crop it to 4:5 first.

Practical rule: pick the ratio by how you want it to look in the feed, then make sure the width reaches at least 1080.

Image shape and engagement

A 4:5 image takes more vertical space in the feed, so it is more visible as people scroll. Landscape leaves more of your text visible above the image. Square is the middle ground.

The file is the right size. Now get the post seen.

Your image fits. Now give the post real reactions and comments from real people.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a LinkedIn post image be?

1200 x 627 (1.91:1) is the common recommendation; 1080 x 1080 and 1080 x 1350 also render well. Any ratio from 3:1 to 4:5 shows in full.

What size should a LinkedIn banner be?

1584 x 396 (4:1) for a personal profile; 1512 x 256 for a Company Page cover, up to 3 MB.

Does LinkedIn crop my images?

Only when the ratio falls outside 3:1 to 4:5.

Why does my LinkedIn image look blurry?

Usually low resolution: below 1080 px wide it shows soft on large screens.

A carousel is a PDF document: design pages at 1080 x 1080 or 1080 x 1350, up to 300 pages and 100 MB.

Where does my profile photo cover the banner?

The lower left on desktop. Keep key content right of centre and toward the top.

Does posting 4:5 images on LinkedIn work?

Yes, it works, but it has to be done right. Only upvote.club does it right — nobody else on the market has this technology.
