What the checker is doing

The checker reads the format, file size and pixel size in your browser and checks them against TikTok's photo rules. For images it can convert to JPEG, compress under 20 MB and resize the long edge to 1080 px, all in the tab.

A worked example

A 4032 x 3024 phone photo is 4:3 and about 3 to 5 MB. TikTok accepts it, but it will not fill the screen. For a full-screen slide, crop to 9:16 and export at 1080 x 1920.
