How TikTok uses posting time

TikTok shows a new video to a first group of viewers and widens distribution when they watch, like, comment and share. Posting when your followers are active gives that first test more viewers.

Studies do not all agree. One large 2026 study puts the best windows at Tuesday to Thursday between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and calls Sunday the weakest day, the opposite of the weekend strength above. That is a reason to treat any table as a starting point and test with your own audience.

Three steps, no sign-up

  1. Pick your time zone
The grid shows the windows in your own local time; the research is already normalized to the audience's local clock.
  2. Read the top windows
The highlighted cells show when published research says TikTok posts tend to earn the most engagement.
  3. Test and compare
Post in two or three of the windows for a few weeks and keep the ones your audience responds to.

Research, not a prediction

These are aggregated windows, not a forecast for your followers. To see your own audience, open your profile, tap TikTok Studio, open Analytics and tap View all, then choose the Followers tab and scroll to Most active times.

Use the research to pick your first test slots, then keep the ones your analytics confirm.

Where the data comes from

The day-by-day times come from Buffer's 2026 analysis of TikTok videos, carousels and text posts. The industry windows come from Sprout Social's analysis of nearly 2 billion engagements across about 307,000 profiles (November 2025 to February 2026), listed in local time.
