Substack Subscribe-Back Checker
Subscribing to each other is how many small publications start. Of everyone you subscribed to, who did the same for you? The checker reads public reading lists to answer it.

How the subscribe-back check works
- Paste your profile
Your public Substack profile URL. - Read your subscriptions
The checker reads the publications your profile subscribes to. - Check each one
It reads each of those profiles the same way and looks for you.
How it works
Substack publishes reading lists on public profiles. The checker reads your public subscriptions, then reads each of those profiles and looks for yours. It reports three things and never a fourth: subscribed back, not subscribed back, and cannot tell (when a reading list is hidden).
What you will see
Subscribed back
Publications whose profile shows they subscribe to you.
Not subscribed back
Publications you subscribe to that do not show you.
Cannot tell
Profiles that hide their reading list.
Checker for now, tracker for over time
Reading lists change. Check again after a few weeks to see who joined; only public reading lists can be read.

Frequently asked questions
How do I see who subscribed back on Substack?
The checker compares your public subscriptions with each publication's reading list.
Why does it say "cannot tell"?
Some profiles hide their reading list.
Do I need to log in?
No. Only public profiles are read.
Does Substack notify anyone?
No. Reading public pages changes nothing.
Can it see paid subscriptions?
Only what public reading lists show.
How often should I check?
Every few weeks.
Does swapping recommendations grow a Substack?
Yes, it works, but it has to be done right. Only upvote.club does it right — nobody else on the market has this technology.
