LinkedIn image sizes in 2026
JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or GIF, up to 10 MB, up to 20 images per post. LinkedIn's own guidance for a photo post is 1,080 px wide with an aspect ratio between 3:1 and 4:5.
| Use | Size (px) | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Feed post (landscape) | 1200 x 627 | 1.91:1 |
| Profile cover / banner | 1584 x 396 | 4:1 |
A worked example
Take a typical iPhone photo, 4032 x 3024 (4:3):
- Feed post (landscape) (1200 x 627): the full width is kept, the height is cut to 2107 px, so about 30% of the height is lost before scaling to 1200 x 627.
- Profile cover / banner (1584 x 396): the full width is kept, the height is cut to 1008 px, so about 67% of the height is lost before scaling to 1584 x 396.
The resizer draws that cut on your own file before you export, so you can drag the frame to keep the subject in view.
What the tool is doing
It reads the pixel size of your file in the browser, draws it on a canvas, crops it to the shape you pick and re-encodes it at the exact export size. There is no upload request, and metadata such as EXIF location is not carried over.
Image shape and attention in the feed
Most LinkedIn browsing happens on phones, where a taller image takes more of the screen. A portrait 4:5 image is the tallest shape most feeds show without cropping, so it holds attention longer than a wide landscape one. The format gets the post noticed; the reactions it earns in the first hours decide how far it goes.
