Best Time to Post on Reddit

On Reddit, timing is about the first hours. Early East-coast mornings (6 to 9 a.m. ET) and late afternoons (4 to 7 p.m. ET) outperform the crowded 9 a.m. to noon window.

Ranked by the median upvotes of top posts submitted in each hour. The 9 a.m. to noon ET window carries the most posts but a lower median: less competition plus engaged early voters beats sheer volume.

How Reddit's hot score uses posting time

Reddit's hot ranking weighs early votes heavily and lets older posts decay, so the first one to two hours decide how far a post travels. A post that earns 50 upvotes in its first 2 hours can outperform one that collects 200 slowly.

Upvotes count on a logarithmic scale: the first votes move a post more than later ones. That is why posting when your subreddit is awake, and replying to early commenters, matters more than the exact minute.

Three steps, no sign-up

  1. Pick your subreddit type
Windows differ a lot between tech, finance, gaming and lifestyle communities.
  2. Convert to your time zone
Reddit windows are usually given in ET; the grid converts them for you.
  3. Check the subreddit itself
Sort the subreddit by Top for the past month and look at when the top posts went up.

Research, not a prediction

Reddit timing depends on the subreddit more than on Reddit as a whole. A UK-heavy community shifts about five hours earlier; a gaming subreddit lives in the evening.

The manual check is simple: open the subreddit, sort by Top for the past month and note the timestamps. If most top posts went up between 7 and 9 a.m. ET, that is your window. Stagger multiple posts by at least two hours so they do not compete for early votes.

Where the data comes from

Hourly medians come from a 2026 study of 6,600 top Reddit posts. Day windows come from a 2026 posting-time guide, and subreddit-category windows from an analysis of posting patterns by community type. All times are Eastern unless marked local.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to post on Reddit in 2026?

6 to 9 a.m. ET or 4 to 7 p.m. ET. 6 p.m. ET has the highest median upvotes among top posts.

Why does 9 a.m. to noon ET perform worse?

It is the most crowded window: the most posts go up then, so each one competes harder for early votes.

What is the best day to post on Reddit?

Wednesday has the highest engagement, with Tuesday and Thursday close behind; by median upvotes Sunday also does well.

Does the best time depend on the subreddit?

Yes, a lot. Tech subreddits peak early on weekdays, gaming on weekend mornings, indie hacker communities on Sunday and Monday evenings.

How do I find the best time for one subreddit?

Sort it by Top for the past month and check when the top posts were submitted.

Should I post several posts at once?

No. Space them at least two hours apart so they do not split early votes.

Does getting upvotes in the first hour on Reddit work?

Yes, it works, but it has to be done right. Only upvote.club does it right — nobody else on the market has this technology.
